Fish on!

“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.”
–Thoreau

This is how I felt after our amazing day on the Columbia. Although the large salmon is a huge benefit, it truly is the memories, laughter and family quality time we were after.

Wayde had never been fishing before… Well, not if you don’t count the countless afternoons pretend playing on papa’s camo boat! But, never out in the water, pole in the river, with snacks by your side! How could he not love it? The Outdoors is in this little ones blood! My fisherman hubby couldn’t even sleep the night before; he was filled with excitement and “fisherman dreams”.

And yes, those dreams did come true! Literally 5 minutes after putting on our life jackets, launching the boat, and poles hitting the water, Wyatt had a “fish on”! and a fish he had indeed:

Sadly, the rest of the morning & afternoon were fairly slow. But, we learned that everything in the boat had to be tied on, for wayde would throw it overboard. We learned that Labor Day weekend is bumper to bumper fishing with laughs spreading throughout the river. We learned that fishing next to the paper mill has some negative consequences (Peee-ewww), but most importantly, we learned that there is no better way to spend a day then fishing with your family!
