Picking Peaches

I had it in my mind that we were going to complete one of our bucket list items today! So, bound and determined, I woke my Urban Boys up and strapped on our boots. For we are headed out to Savies and going picking!

Wyatt will probably kill me for saying this, but here it goes. He even let me listen to “90’s pop” on Pandora the whole drive there. So here I am, singing my heart out to backstreet boys, Ace of base & spice girls, only to find out Wyatt knows the words better than I do. Lets just say we had a nice run down memory lane while rocking out to “I saw the sign”.  He still doesn’t believe that my mom took me & 5 of my 13 year old friends to backstreet boys in concert. Yes, my mom ROCKS!
We decided on stopping at the “Pumpkin Patch” to pick some blackberries and peaches. I also wanted to peruse the farmer store for some fresh produce and tomatoes. For today was salsa making day!

Our first stop was the barn, as no trip is complete without the animals! Pigs, bunnies, chickens, and llamas. We walked around the barn making animal noises with wayde the whole time.
But this mama was getting anxious for picking, so off to the orchards we go! Bucket in hand and ready for harvesting. Wayde got so excited that he even fell, my poor buddy! He had to show mama his "owchie hands" and demanded a binky to feel better.

Our little family walked around the peach trees and blackberry bushes for the next 30 minutes. One hand for picking, the other hand for eating.
Unfortunately, the produce was pretty bare, but it made the hunt even more fun! We picked weeds and pointed out tractors along the way too.

After paying for our pickings & fighting the crowds in the farmer’s store, we were all ready for our fresh lunch and salsa extravaganza… But, not without a quick run over to the hay tunnels and a piping hot piece of corn for a snack!
