Mama-mia's Pizzaria

Since Wyatt is regularly gone on work trips during the week, I am frequently left at home trying to brainstorm something for dinner. True to family tradition, the woman in this Urban household does not cook. Don’t get me wrong, I love to bake during the holidays or follow a fun recipe when I have an afternoon to enjoy it! But the rushed “I just worked all day, picked up my son from day care, and now have to think of something to make, then actually cook it”, makes my stomach turn. This is one of the many reasons why I love my husband- he actually enjoys the daily repetitious cooking.  And even more points in his favor, hes actually really good at it!

Normally during the nights Wyatt is gone, you can find wayde and I at my parents’ house, at a local kid-friendly restaurant, or at home eating mac-and-cheese, or wiener wraps. And don’t judge, but Wayde and I even had cereal dinner the night before. But tonight, I actually stepped outside of my box.

Now, I can’t take all the credit for this idea. Wyatt & Wayde had a guy’s pizza making night last month while I went out with a friend, and I heard for weeks about how much fun they had together. Although nothing makes my heart happier than seeing my two favorite guys bonding, I wanted a piece of the action too. So tonight, it’s a redo pizza night with a mommy twist!

I put on Chef Wayde’s attire and set out all the goodies to assembling. We were just going to make mini-pizzas out of small French bread loafs. Bread, sauce, meat, cheese, peperoni…. Check!

I watched Wayde seriously concentrate while putting on each layer; I never knew pizza making was such important work. I have also never seen so much cheese be put on each piece! of course, Willie sat on the sidelines waiting for some food to drop (i even caught him on the table trying to clean the scraps after we were through!). Wyatt got home from his business trip just in time for the pizza to be thrown into the oven !

By this time, I was feeling mighty proud of Wayde & his pizza making capabilities. So, I threw the pizza into the oven & patted myself on the back for a dinner well thought…. So, I give in and gave wayde applesauce with sprinkles as a treat while we waited by the oven. For all of  his hard work!

But again, true to family tradition….the pizza came out warm, smoking, and burnt to a charcoaled crisp!
